Editorial Policy

Moldovan Wine exists to be a trustworthy guide to Moldovan wine for readers around the world. This policy explains how our content is researched, written, checked, and corrected — and how we stay independent.

How Content Is Researched

Every guide, grape profile, and winery profile on this site is researched before it is written. Our writers start from verifiable facts — vineyard areas, regional boundaries, grape characteristics, cellar dimensions, founding dates — and build the article around them. Where sources disagree or a figure varies between publications, we use cautious wording (“around”, “approximately”) rather than false precision, and we avoid repeating claims we cannot trace to a credible source.

Our Sources

We rely primarily on:

  • Official bodies — notably Wine of Moldova and the National Office of Vine and Wine (ONVV), Moldova’s official wine authority, and national statistics where relevant.
  • Established wine publications — respected international wine media and reference works covering Eastern European wine.
  • Winery materials — official winery websites, fact sheets, and communications, used for producer-specific details such as visitor information and wine ranges.
  • Recognised records — for example, Guinness World Records for Mileștii Mici’s status as the world’s largest wine collection.

Key articles include a “Sources & Further Reading” section so readers can check and explore the material themselves.

Corrections Policy

Mistakes happen, and when they do we fix them openly. Readers can report an error at editorial@moldovanwine.net. We review each report against reliable sources, correct confirmed errors promptly, and update the page. We do not quietly delete contentious content without review; where a correction changes a material fact, we aim to make the change transparent.

Independence from Advertisers

Our editorial coverage is independent of advertising and commercial partnerships. Advertisers and partners have no say over what we write, which wineries we profile, or how wines are described, and they never see articles about themselves before publication for approval. Commercial content, where it appears, is kept clearly separate from editorial content.

Winery Profiles: No Paid Placements

Winery profiles are editorial content, written to the same standard as everything else on the site. A winery cannot pay to be profiled, to improve its description, or to remove accurate information. Profiles are based on documented facts — history, location, grape varieties, visitor offer — and are updated when wineries provide verifiable new information.

Keeping Content Current

Evergreen guides are reviewed periodically and updated when facts change — for example, when regional rules evolve, statistics are refreshed, or visitor information changes. If you notice something that looks out of date, a quick email to our editorial address is the fastest way to get it reviewed.
